Pink Out proceeds to be donated to the American Cancer Society

The idea to have a Pink Out Dress Down Day came from one of our 8th grade students, Shannon Benson, who wrote the following to Mrs. Brown:

Mrs. Brown,

I would like to propose an idea in honor of Mrs. Fallert. For the remaining three Fridays in October I believe "Pink Out Fridays" are only fitting to show our love and pride for our kindest, strongest teacher in honor of her inspiring battle! This idea is not in any way, shape, or form at all for the ability to not wear uniforms, but to show our great love and support for Mrs. Fallert who is so incredibly strong, brave, and kind! I thank you in advance for your consideration.

Your student,
Shannon

We had a Pink Out Dress Down Day last Friday, October 19th and surprised Mrs. Fallert. At the Friday morning prayer, Mrs. Fallert was presented with a gift from the school. All of the proceeds from the Pink Out will be donated to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Mrs. Fallert.

Mrs. Fallert was so touched by the gesture and all of the love and support from the students, families, and staff she wanted to share the following with everyone:

To my OLG Family,

Thank you all so much for the extreme kindness and support you have shown me and my family during my ongoing challenges with cancer. Friday was overwhelming for me and I am humbled by your thoughts and prayers. I had no idea Shannon Benson wrote a letter to Mrs. Brown asking for a Pink Out Dress Down Day for breast cancer awareness and a donation to the American Cancer Society. I just can't thank you enough for all your generosity.

There are times in our lives when we are utterly unaware of the affect we have on someone else. I don't know what I would have done the last few years without your thoughts, prayers, and ongoing support. There are simply no words to express how grateful I am to all of you for your kindness, love, and selflessness.

I humbly thank you, from the bottom of my heart to the heavens above, for making a difference in my life! I am forever grateful. I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers and especially in my heart.

Gratefully yours,
Mrs. Amy Fallert
